If you are looking for great tasting lobsters & fresh oysters at reasonable prices, this is the place. The waiter waited on us was very friendly. The owner((at least in my eyes) was also friendly & appreciative of my patronage. I defininately want to go back if I get an another chance.

Haddock Piccata was fantastic! Excellent Margarita also. Crusty loaf of bread and really good butter was also great.

I am actually writing this review as I'm still sitting on at the table. This was one the better places to get dinner. I got the Jake's Famouse clam bake. Everything tasted pretty fresh. The lobster was a bit on the small side, but was very good. Others at the table ordered the pesto prima vita, or how ever you spell it. They both liked it, nothing to write home, but good. It's off the beach but has a great outside area for drinks and food. Inside was clean, decor was interesting. Staff was very polite and helped put as much as possible. I liked it here, clean friendly decent food, that taste fresher.then most.places right on the beach. I recommend stopping in, but everyday is different. Good luck.

My fiance was starving after our day at the beach and stopped here. Kinda wish he didn't. We ordered two lobster rolls to eat on their patio. There is a sit down restaurant inside and there is a take-out window for food to go or to be eaten on the patio. The take-out girl was very friendly. No real complaints on the service here, our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. What was lackluster was the lobster roll. It was mostly lettuce with what appeared to be 2-3 small spoonfuls of lobster. This was a real let-down based on the price we paid (~$35). We got burnt!!! This kind of felt like a tourist trap- and sadly, we fell into it due to hunger. There are better spots for lunch/dinner than here, for sure.

Food is bland and lacks quality! We decided to try this place since we were staying next door. Very disappointed!

First stop for lunch upon entering the OOB area. Sat on the deck and expected a good meal, given the entree prices. Since it was late, wife and one son split an entree, while my other son and I split another. We got the pizza and a side of onion rings. Though the pizza was good, the $15 price tag for a pizza the size of a dinner plate was quite steep, as was the $5 for the dozen or so onion rings we got. Needless to say, although the meal was decent, the value was not. I highly suggest driving by this place and heading to the Run of the Mill Pub.

Do NOT waste your time here! Food is disgusting and very over-priced. This is a tourist trap surviving due to their location and that it is in a seasonal area. My girlfriend and I threw away $40 bucks down the toilet; literally. Yuck. The owner(s) need to step up and fix their food if they plan to over charge everyone for lousy food.

Review is only for the lobster roll and the window service. Really good experience for what we wanted - quick, easy, big amount of lobster meat. We stayed at the campground next door and realized we hadn't gotten a lobster roll during out stay in Maine, so as we left we figured we would swing in. We are picky with our rolls (we LOVE CT style) but since no one really serves that we didn't care - Lobster any way is amazing. On a Sunday at 1PM, they had some business going on and we waited barely 5 minutes for two rolls, light on the mayo. They do not skimp on the lobster, for sure. They did a great job keeping the mayo light and the lobster was so sweet and tender. It was only my second time having a cold roll and I was not disappointed. Can't comment on anything else, though. Woman at the window was great. Definitely hitting this spot again.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!!! What a waste of money, the waitresses was very rude and the food is nasty flavorless and overpriced!!!

Found this place by accident driving to the beach- they have excellent coffee. I ordered an iced caramel latte with an extra shot of espresso, it was delicious- not too sweet and needed nothing added to it. We also ordered breakfast- they have a small menu of bagels, muffins, donuts, egg sandwiches, and a breakfast platter. They also had gluten free bread and organic. The food was great. Glad we found this place- will be coming back!

Seated immediately, service was slower than expected but she was a nice waitress- Ordered in our party was the lobster stew (ahhhmaziing) but it did need more than 3-4 small bites of lobster, scallops and haddock, and shrimp and clam strips. The food was fair enough but overpriced considering some of the other restaurants where we had enjoyed some scrumptious food recently. Not bad- not great. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that poor excuse of a bloody mary was just tomato juice (no vodka, no spice, not even a salted rim! And it was in the completely WRONG small glass.

The waitress Alison was great! The drinks good... After that save your money! Food was nasty!!!! Tried to pass haddock off as Scallops... Clams and shrimp plate a waste of $$. Head down the road to Thai food way better!!

I was prepared to really like this place based on a friends suggestion but it fell short for me in a couple of ways. Hubby and I split a bowl of the 'seafood' chowder and it was a disappointing bowl. Very watery, with a ton of potato, some tasty fish in mediocre quantity and a scrap of other 'seafood' here and there. We asked about the lobster roll market price and I felt it was high compared to other places in the area. Ultimately we had the fried shrimp platter and for $12.99 I think it was a good value and pretty tasty. Regarding the lobster situation I do have a tip. Based on the per pound price if you buy a roll there it came to $80 a pound. They have a fish market on site, however, and we were able to purchase a 1/2 pound of lobster meat for only $18. I took that home, threw in some mayo, pepper and lemon juice and voila fresh lobster rolls. The service was very friendly if a bit slow for the traffic. Our waitress was very informative about the market options and brought us the freshly picked lobster meat right to our table.

To order food you order it at the window. The restaurant was under staff with cashiers and waitresses. The food was a 5 out of 5 but I only have them a 4 due to the under staff waiting for drinks. One lady was working as a cashier and a waitress at the same time. The cook made good food and cooked it fast.

The rainy weekend of July 25 and 26 turned out well thanks to the help of Jumpin'Jakes. We got in quick that Saturday night. Clams dinners were amply supplied with fresh, good sized clams with hot, juicy bellies in a light crispy batter, done right along with fresh tasty tartar sauce and coleslaw - A little pricey, but not so bad considering the cost of seafood today. My husband raved about the Cajun catfish. I had a taste and found it quite spicy hot, but expected that since after all it's done Cajun style. Picky eater, girlfriend seemed happy with her haddock. Barbara, our waitress was pleasant and accommodating and remembered us the next day when we returned for the buck a shuck oysters eaten at the bar. They were delicious as were the steamers. Friendly conversation with bartender and owner, Rick. Asked about the array of acrylic paintings on the walls, assuming they were on consignment from local artist's, to hear from the bartender and confirmed by Rick that they were all painted by Rick, himself. I found this quite impressive as to me they are very well done and render a pleasant, funky decor to the place. Thank you Jumpin'Jakes for helping to make part of our beach-less weekend, a pleasant experience.

If you want quality seafood and nothing else, this is your place. The hot bread, mussels and lobster were delicious. Our waitress was polite and sweet - she apologized profusely that they were out of haddock, which is about all my girlfriend can eat there. The physical restaurant is a disaster. We counted three different types of furniture in the dining room. The carpets were disgusting. The decor had no rhyme or reason (including an African American lady lamp at our booth). The bathroom had two unseparated toilets and no paper towels. If you aren't fussy and want good seafood at a good price, you'll be happy here.

I stopped there to grab a quick bite to eat with my mom. We waited over half an hour for a hot dog, personal pizza, and onion rings!!! Many other people were served before us, and I had to ask for my drinks because we were never given them. When we politely asked for a guesstimate on how much longer it would take, after waiting 20 minutes, we were told "I don't know. I don't cook the food." The cooks were literally three feet away from her....... After I had finally received my pizza, my mother still hadn't received her hot dog. When she went up and asked about it after another ten minutes, it had been sitting on the counter ready to be served. My mom asked if it was possible to give it to her, my mother was told "I'm too busy" I could understand the dismal service if it was busy, but it wasn't. The food was decent, but the service was ABYSMAL! And the prices didn't match the quality or the unnecessarily long wait time!!! I could have gone to Hannaford's and cooked a hot dog faster and cheaper!

Decidedly average. The seafood is OK, but the interior ambience is ancient. If you eat outside, you're right on Route 1 - which is a very busy road.

Food was great! Our server Allison was one of the best servers I have had. It was a terrific experience!
(4)Javier M.
Awesome place, the food was awesome, the service was great. The manager or owner give us an awesome show of the live lobsters :) loved it !!!
(5)Courtney D.
The food was just plain horrible. We paid $20 for a cut of swordfish that was very small and very over cooked. The shrimp were not de-veined or cleaned properly and extremely chewy. I will not be going back and do not recommend trying.

Just do the drive up thing & take out. The fried haddock was tender & fresh & crunchy- didn't need a single thing! I couldn't get past the interior though & the restroom needed some TLC. The service was friendly & prompt.

We went here in late October, so it was off season. I can see this place degrading a bit in quality during a rush. Our experience, however, was phenomenal. The fish chowder was superb. The lobster tail cocktail was a bit over cooked, but good over all. Their tartar sauce was great. Their cocktail sauce was out of a jar--really out only disappointment because it's not too hrs to make great homemade cocktail sauce. Also, $5 martinis on a Saturday! (Again, the perks of going off season.)

This is the seventh in a series of reviews related to "Joni and Reid's Impromptu Maine Beach Vacation." To see the trip from the beginning, go to the review for the Norseman Resort in Ogunquit, ME. We were in Maine on a weekend that was a kind of holiday in Quebec, so there was a large influx of French Canadian tourists. As a result, all the places that serve lobster dinners in Old Orchard Beach seemed to be jacking up the prices, despite the recent glut of lobsters. We walked into this restaurant (which is lacking in décor) only to learn that the price of a lobster dinner in the restaurant was much higher than buying a lobster at their fish market, having them steam it for you (for free), and eating it at their picnic tables outside, so we did that. Ashley, who works there, gave us a lesson in lobsters. (Did you know that female lobsters have a higher percentage of tail meat than males?) We ordered steamers first, then had a 3 lb. and a 2 lb. lobster for the same as we would have paid for two chicken lobster dinners inside. This is my recommended option. For the next review in this series, check out Joseph's By the Sea in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

We picked Jake's after a long day at the beach for some quick seafood where we could sit down outside. We decided to share the fishmen's platter. The bread she brought it before dinner was great, crusty and hot. Overall, the meal was good. One of the scallops was raw and even when the breading was pulled off, the waitress didn't do anything about it. We would have gotten a few beers but even a bud light was $4/bottle.

Great seafood selection. Everything I've every had has been fresh and tasty. I take my parents here when they're in town because they are pescitarians and they love the food. Unique, trendy decor. Fast, friendly service and the owner is almost always on site.

I had an early dinner at jumpin jake's, they let me order off of the dinner menu even though they were only serving lunch. I ordered the haddock piccata which was served to me burnt. The owner began arguing with us saying the meal was not burnt. Would not go back here!

Stumbled on this place on a trip North on I-95 on a Thursday night. On Thursdays they do three different "community dinners" for $14.95. Also, they have several dinners until 6PM (including a nice plate of Maine shrimp, coleslaw, hot bread and hand-cut fries,) for $10. But the real hook for us was their "shuck for a buck" oysters! From 4 to 6PM you can get a dozen fresh oysters, shucked on the half shell, for $12 (or one for $1, and so forth.) We also enjoyed splitting one of their homemade clam cakes. The manager met us at the door, offered us to seat ourselves anywhere we chose, and was friendly and helpful. Service was great. We didn't have dessert but they do make their own and there is a good variety. We will gladly detour off the highway to stop back here again if we're in the area.

Almost didn't go in because of the chemical smell that greeted us.I think it is what they use to clean the rest rooms not sure. But we decided to try it because we were starving. Very nice man greeted us and the waitress was helpful without being sugary sweet. the food was very good not too oily as some have said. Best clam cake I've had in quite a while. Wish they had small servings of chowder instead of only the big bowls. The shrimp dinner was very tasty and loved the hand cut fries and the coleslaw was really good and tasted like it had just been made. They could use some upgrades on their decorating but we will definitely go back for another visit..

Stopped in during the off season when nothing else was open. Glad we did, excellent food for a decent price

affordable is the best thing I can say. Dingy outdated interior - they do have outside seating. Menue with a lot of choices. We stopped here despite other Yelp reviews because there was no wait and we were tired of overpriced food on our trip.
